Hélène V. Gagnon joined Bombardier Aerospace in October 2006 where she is responsible for internal and external communications, media relations, corporate social responsibility as well as government relations for Bombardier Aerospace worldwide. She works with representatives from all levels of government in the various countries where Bombardier Aerospace, the third largest civil aircraft manufacturer in the world, has operations (Canada, U.S.A., Northern Ireland and Mexico).
Ms. Gagnon is a member of the Board of the Air Transport Action Group (ATAG). She is Bombardier's senior representative with the US Aerospace Industries Association (AIA). She also represents Bombardier on the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee and the Public Affairs Committee of the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC) as well as on the Board of Directors of Aéro Montréal, Greater Montréal's Aerospace Cluster where she chairs the Branding and Promotion Working Group. Ms. Gagnon sits on the Board of Directors of the Québec Federation of Chambers of Commerce (FCCQ) and the Quebec Manufacturers and Exporters (QME). She also sits on the Board of Governors of the Québec Business Council on the Environment (CPEQ) and is a Governor of the Regroupement des jeunes gens d'affaires du Québec, of which she was President in 2000.
Hélène V. Gagnon has always been very active in the community. She has been involved in 50 organizations in the last 22 years including government advisory boards, pressure groups and business associations and was appointed to 22 Boards of Directors of these organizations. She is, today, President of the first corporate fundraising campaign of the Quebec Chronic Pain Association for 2009-11.
Ms. Gagnon has garnered more than 43 scholarships, awards, distinctions and excellence prizes notably recognizing excellent marks in school, extensive involvement in the community as well as leadership qualities. In 2003, the publication Journal Les Affaires ranked her among the top 75 business leaders in Québec who are under 40. In November 2007, she received the prestigious Canada's Most Powerful Women Top 100™ award from the Women Executive Network.
She has been a speaker on many topics but more recently at the Aviation and Environment Summit in Geneva in March 2009 and at the Airports Council International-North America (ACINA) Marketing and Communications Conference in Montréal in June 2009.
Hélène V. Gagnon began her career in 1995 with the law firm Fasken Martineau as a specialist in environmental law. In 2000, she joined mining and metallurgy multinational Noranda Inc. Falconbridge Limited (now known as XStrata) as Director of Public and Corporate Affairs for Québec with overall responsibility for communications and government relations. In addition, she was in charge of financial communications and investor relations for the Noranda Income Fund and served as Corporate Secretary for the Fund's Board. She also represented Noranda Inc./Falconbrige Ltd. on the Board of Directors of Société minière Raglan du Québec Limitée. She joined Bombardier Transportation North America in 2003 as Senior Director of Public Affairs, a position where she applied her extensive media relations, issues management and crisis management experience.
A graduate of McGill University with a degree in Civil Law and Common Law (First Class Honours), Ms. Gagnon also holds a Master's degree in Public Administration and Public Policy from the London School of Economics. A lawyer by training, she has been a member of Québec Bar since 1995. She also holds the title of Accredited in Public Relations (ARP) from the Canadian Public Relations Society.
